Lord Why Do I Even Bother
It's been a month of Sunday's since I've posted and I'd feel bad except The Girlfriend keeps everyone fairly well posted with what's happening. Sometimes I think that the only person that posts more infrequently than me is Jordan, but it looks like she has posted three or four times since I have. I wish I had something new to tell. I will say that I hate the holiday season. It's just a pain in the ass. My sister's family is impossible as far as gifts go. They have everything. My dad and step-dad won't use anything I get them (I decided to go with steaks from Omaha Steaks), and I'm running our of imagination for The Girlfriend. Hopefully the new year will bring some inspiration for this blog.

unless you get them for vegetarians, the Omaha Steaks are ALWAYS a good gift.
That's why I went with no gifts this year. Except for the kids and of course my Mom. It felt great just to get together and enjoy everyones company. Next year why not do "pick-a-name" with a limit so you only have to get one person a gift? Or the white elephant game, so again you one have to get one gift.
I'm all for no-significant-other gifts, cuz you just end up trying to top each year and it gets rather unaffordable. BUT I think this is only okay when you've been together awhile in an established relationship and both sides agree, not when you're newly seeing someone. Cuz then you're just cheap (or perceived as such).
I like when you even just post your side to some event, cuz how the girlfriend views it may not be how you view it. Or sometimes you touch on a specific part of an event that you found funny, whereas Flat Coke does an overview to give us context.
